New favorite band September 30, 2009

This is my new favorite band!!

Two Or More

Ecuadorean American contemporary Christian. They’ve got a fantastic Latin sound that isn’t too hard-core rock but isn’t just a mushy pop remake either. I’m loving it. :)

Providential Plumbing December 5, 2007

Filed under: Uncategorized — Monica @ 10:01 am

Some of you know that I’m working for a non-profit now that we’ve moved to Charlotte. I work for Love INC (which stands for Love In the Name of Christ). It’s a national organization whose whole purpose is to connect people in need with local Christians who can meet those needs (food, clothing, home repairs, transportation, shopping, wheelchair ramps, life skills classes, etc.). The majority of our work goes to elderly and/or disabled people.

In the last two months, God has just opened up the floodgates. He has been providing for us in ways I could never have imagined, and one of those miracles has been plumbing. For years, the plumbing request folder has been sort of a black hole. We never had enough volunteer plumbers who had the skill, time, and tools to tackle even minor jobs, let alone big ones.

But God has sent us plumbers. Yesterday, I finished entering the value of all of the plumbing services and supplies that have been donated in the last six weeks or so, and the total was over $3,500.00

It puts me in mind of Psalm 107:8.

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

Mom’s out of surgery, and doing well!! July 5, 2007

My mom came out of surgery this morning, and the doctors say that everything went fine. She’s still hooked up to the heart-lung machine, but she’s awake and coherent.  Praise the Lord!

Please keep praying for her. It’s going to be a long road to recovery.

I’ve been so remiss about posting lately. Life has just been going by so quickly!! But, fear not, fair reader. Soon I’ll have graduation pictures, garden pictures, bird pictures, book reviews, and yes, Becca, I’ll even respond to your tag. :-) But for the moment, work calls….

I know I’ve been gone for a while, but I’m afraid I’m going to be out of commission for a bit longer. My doc says that I’ve got carpal tunnel syndrome, so that means as little typing as possible for at least the next two weeks and possibly longer. Please pray that the braces heal it up! We don’t want to consider the other options. :-(

Let the record reflect November 17, 2006

The more reading I do for this Family and Society class that I’m taking, the more thankful I am for my hubby. Our relationship is so far out of the average, and he takes such better care of me than the average would predict that I can hardly stand it.

Just for the record, I love him to pieces. He’s the best!

Ah the mountains…. November 16, 2006

Psalm 98

O sing to the LORD a new song,
For He has done wonderful things,
His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.
Tthe LORD has made known His salvation;
He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
He has remember His lovingkindness and his faithfulness to the house of Israel;
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth;
Break forth and sing for joy and sing praises.
Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre,
With the lyre and the sound of melody.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
Shout joyfully before the King, the LORD.
Let the sea roar and all it contains,
The world and those who dwell in it.
Let the rivers clap their hands,
Let the mountains sing together for joy before the LORD,
For He is coming to judge the earth;
He will judge the world with righeousness and the peoples with equity.

Fair Food November 16, 2006

OK, I know it’s been forever, but I promised to put up pictures of the State Fair food, and here they are. Don’t worry–I kept them in the fridge so they wouldn’t get moldy. :-)

I took pictures of the food places we didn’t get to, but as you can see, we enjoyed what we did get immensely. :-)

Eaten but not pictured: basket of cheesy fries and one very sugary funnel cake (that one’s for you, Becca!)
